In what seems to be a seasonal routine, Washington State Patrol Troopers spotted two men stopped along I5 in Snohomish County waving down cars. As in recent years, the individuals ask for monetary help for gas or other help, often acting desperate. In return they offer some sort of gold jewelry which turns out not to be gold but brass or copper.
Since 2018,
this scam has been reported from California to Canada. In Snohomish County, the
scammers stop at the on and off ramps to I5 and I405. They have also been
reported along SR9.

you call 911 if you encounter this scam.
