Pioneer Trails- Burglary

On Friday morning, December 2, 2011, around 10:30am, a woman saw two burglars at a neighbor’s house in the 12000 block of 42^nd Dr SE in Pioneer Trails. She immediately called 911.

Two black males came out of the house carrying electronic equipment. It appeared that the woman saw the first trip out of the house by the burglars.

Entry was through the side garage door which the burglars kicked in. A third burglar (race not reported) was also seen in a black Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with tinted windows.

The victims did lose some valuables, but many more possessions were found staged in the house ready for transport. It appeared that the burglars were on the street for only 10 minutes.

While we may not think of December as a time of the year for a lot of burglaries, they do occur in the winter. Also, Christmas time can provide an opportunity for burglars to steal gifts. Some ways you can prevent a burglary from your home over the Christmas holiday season include:

• Keep the outside of your home well-lit with doors locked and curtains closed.
• Do not display gifts beneath the Christmas tree that can be seen from the street.
• After the holidays, do not advertise gifts by leaving boxes out for garbage collection. Instead, flatten and place them in your recycle bin.

PIONEER TRAILS- Attempted Burglary

On the night of July 14/15 someone went into an open garage on 42nd Dr SE and removed property into a stash pile in the green belt. Law enforcement caught them before the owners knew what happened. Reminder: when you shut your garage door, watch it go all the way down.

PIONEER TRAILS- Burglary

Over the weekend of April 17/18, a house in Pioneer Trails, in the vicinity of 35th Ave SE and 125th Pl SE was burglarized. The burglars kicked in 2 doors that had deadbolts. Items that the burglars stole included tools, computers, furniture, and passports. They even stole the car in the garage. It was reported that they cut the phone lines, too. The family apparently was away on a trip during the weekend.

Comment: Information about this incident is sketchy. However, some reminders might be in order for when you take a vacation:

• Be sure to have a trusted neighbor or friend watch your house when you are gone. They can pick up your mail, newspaper and handouts left at your door so that your house does not look empty. They can also change your lights in your house to make it look like you are still there. If you are going on an extended trip ask your friend/neighbor to mow at least the front lawn.

• Put away any valuables such as laptops and documents with account information such as bankcard statement where they are not easily visible. A safe or locked file cabinet might be a good place to put some of your items that could reveal your identity.

• Don’t forget to lock your doors. And if you have an alarm system, use it.

PIONEER TRAILS/AUTUMN MEADOWS- Suspicious Activity

During the morning of February 4, 2010, around 8am, police were looking for a car theft suspect who fled into the wooded areas of Pioneer Trails. The search included police and K9 units. It is not known if the suspect was caught.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, around 10pm, a Pioneer Trails resident reported to 911 about suspicious activity at the Pioneer Trails north pond, by 2 white males in their late teens or early 20’s, smoking pot. A few minutes earlier, they had been seen exiting a maroon/red Ford Escort station wagon (license number 237UCS) in the vicinity of 122nd Pl SE and 42nd Dr SE.
