WASHINGTON STATE PATROL – Missing Indigenous Person Alert System (MIPA)

Washington State is adding missing indigenous persons to its Endangered Missing Alerts System. The system has included AMBER Alerts for missing children, SILVER alerts for missing seniors, and ENDANGERED MISSING PERSON Alerts for endangered missing adults.

The Missing Indigenous Person Alert System (MIPA) will send notices of missing indigenous persons to law enforcement agencies and the public through the WSDOT informational signs and the highway advisory radio system, among other methods. Eventually, the alerts will be sent to cell phones in the state.

Indigenous persons go missing at a higher level than the general population. The Washington State Patrol’s (WSP) Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit (MUPU) reports 128 missing indigenous persons in Washington State as of June 13. According to the Urban Indian Health Institute in Seattle, indigenous women are more than four times as likely to disappear than white women in the state of Washington. There can be jurisdictional issues that hamper an investigation and search for a missing indigenous person. The MIPA system is an attempt to alleviate some of these issues and give publicity to missing indigenous persons that other classes of missing persons have been receiving.

WSP emphasizes that if a friend or family is missing to report the fact that they are missing immediately. In the State of Washington there is no wait time to report a missing person. Report the missing person to the law enforcement agency where they were last seen.

An alert will be activated if

·         An indigenous person is missing due to unexplained, involuntary, or suspicious circumstances and/or is believed to be in danger because of age, health, adverse weather, or other circumstances and is believed to be unable to return to safety without assistance.

·         There is enough descriptive information available that could reasonably assist with the safe recovery of the person such as: photos, height, weight, age, hair color, distinguishing physical characteristics, clothing, etc.

·         The incident has been reported to and is being investigated by law enforcement.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE- Missing Person

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office detectives seek the public’s help locating 32-year-old Sophia Pirie of Snohomish, who has not been heard from since Monday, March 4. It is believed Sophia was seen briefly at the Tulalip Resort Casino on Monday, March 18.

Both vehicles associated with Sophia have been impounded by police in the last two weeks. One vehicle was in Tulalip and the second vehicle was in Federal Way. It is unknown what connections Sophia has to the Federal Way area.

Family members are concerned because it is unusual for Sophia to be out of contact for such a long period of time. Sophia has brown hair, is 5’8” tall and weighs approximately 130 lbs.

Anyone with information about Sophia or her whereabouts is asked to call 911.

EVERETT- Missing Newborn

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office continues to look for the newborn baby of Leah Marie Lund, who is believed to have given birth to a girl between September 10 and 18. The Sheriff’s Office asked the public for help in finding the 16-year-old Lund earlier in October. She was believed to have given birth outside of medical observation. The Sheriff’s Office feared for the safety of the baby due to the mother’s alleged heroin use.

While Lund was found in mid-October, the Sheriff’s Office has been unable to locate the baby. If you know where the baby is located, please call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

LYNNWOOD– Sheriff’s Office Looking for Missing Man

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Jose Diaz who has been missing since late August of this year.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, Shari Ireton, “What really concerns detectives about this missing person’s case is that pretty much after August 28th we have no activity from him at all. Nothing on social media. He didn’t come back to work. He hasn’t been in contact with this girlfriend, so we’re looking for any help we can get.” She says, “It’s very unlike him. He doesn’t have a criminal history. He’s very connected with friends and family. He shows up to work on time, so for him to fall off the face of the earth it’s very concerning and very unusual.”

The Sheriff’s Office is also looking for Diaz’s car, a red 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse with Washington license plates AUH2654.

SNOHOMISH– Two Teenage Girls Missing

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office continues to look for Keyanna Monson and Samantha Eldredge. The 16 year olds are feared to have become victims of sex trafficking.

The Sheriff’s Office believes that the girls may be staying at hotels in the Puget Sound region.

EVERETT- Missing Person Update

After returning home to her foster parents a few days ago, Emma Lyons has again disappeared on Wednesday November 26.She was last seen at Aces High School, in the 9700 block of Holly Drive in Everett at about 10am.

She was wearing:

• A red sweatshirt
• Black Capri leggings
• Possibly a Superman baseball cap
• And carrying a camouflaged Jansport backpack

She also may have a cell phone with a blue touch screen that only connects to WIFI and does not have a SIM card.

Emma is a 16 year old Caucasian and Native American. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weights 125lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes. She has a small scar on her right chin (1/2 inch long, 1/18 inch wide).  Emma needs medication that she does not have with her.

Emma has been known to frequent south Everett, in the vicinity of Casino Road and Mariner High School. She also is known to have connectivity in West Seattle, including High Point, Delridge and the area of Castle Park near Westwood.

The Everett Police Department is looking for a missing person. Emma Lyons was last seen on Tuesday, November 19, in the area of North Everett. She was with an unidentified male nicknamed “TB.” She left her school with a fellow female classmate on that day at about 2:30pm in south Everett.

LYNNWOOD- Missing Person- Cassandra Lennon

Lynnwood PD is looking for Cassandra “Casey” Lennon as a missing person. She was last seen at the Barnes & Noble near Alderwood Mall on September 15, 2010. She may be driving a white 2004 Subaru station wagon (Washington license plate 491-RZU).

Police consider her endangered because of an unspecified medical condition.

Cassandra Lennon is white with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is 5ft 3in and 160 pounds.
