SNOHOMISH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE- Burglary Suspects

Please share this important information with others in your Neighborhood Watch group.  Property crime detectives are looking for the burglars depicted in the attached composite sketches. 

The first composite (#0284) is a burglar who on 7/19, about noon, forced his way into an occupied residence on Serene Way in Lynnwood.  Two residents confronted him and he quickly ran out from the rear patio door.  The witnesses said he had a full right arm sleeve tattoo that was of unknown design but blue in color.  He had slight acne on his upper facial cheeks and a several days growth of whiskers.  Additionally, his upper front tooth was crooked. He was wearing a blue/white baseball style cap, white (crew neck) tee shirt and blue jeans.

The other two (#0285 and #0286) composites are a male and female residential burglary team.  The male breaks into the rear of the residence while the female driver remains inside the suspect vehicle (silver, late 90’s Mitsubishi Eclipse) that is parked in the victim’s driveway.  The latest burglary by this duo occurred on 7/20 at about 5:45 p.m. in a multi-apartment complex located on Admiralty Way in Lynnwood. 

If you see any of these suspects, IMMEDIATELY call 911!  Don’t attempt to confront or detain them.  Observe from a safe distance and be a good witness.  If possible, write down information such as license plate numbers or other identifying vehicle marks, decals, etc.  Notice what they are wearing at the time. If they leave the area, make note of their direction of travel.

WASHINGTON STATE- In the Top 10 for Car Thefts

Two cities in Washington State have made the “Top 10” for number of cars thefts for 2011 in a national listing. The National Insurance Crime Bureau ranked Spokane at number 4 with 2,614 thefts. Yakima came in at number 5 with 1,308 thefts. The Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue area was ranked number 12 with 15,604 thefts. The rankings are based on a ratio of number of thefts versus population.

4th of JULY- Update on Injuries and Damage

According to this morning’s The Herald, around a dozen Snohomish County citizens were treated for fireworks injuries in hospital emergency rooms that included eye injuries and burns. In Silver Firs (vicinity of 55^th Dr. SE and 138^th Pl. SE) an aerial firework tipped over striking a 65 year old man in the face.

Hospitals expect more injuries as people shoot off fireworks after the 4^th.

SUMMER SAFETY- Prevent Your Child from Falling Out of Your Window

On Monday, June 25, KOMO TV News published an article about a 3 year old boy who fell out of a second story window onto the concrete below. Help Prevent Window Falls

Snohomish County, WA –   Every year children are injured from window falls. With sunny weather upon us and the temperatures rising – remember, the risk open windows pose for young children. Kids are spontaneous and playful, energetic and persistent. Parents are busy. Toddlers are the most common victims.

Already five times this spring children have fallen from windows.

7 fall-prevention tips from the experts at Safe Kids Snohomish County and Providence Regional Medical Center Everett:

• Move furniture away from windows and balconies. A bed, couch and other furniture allows a child to get higher and closer to a window.
• Only open windows outside of a child's reach or climbing distance. Open double-hung windows from the top. A child can fall from a window opened as little as 5 inches.
• Every year, many children fall out of open windows with window screens. Window screens will not keep your child from falling.
• If you must open a window within a child's reach or climbing distance, install an operable window guard. Window guards have horizontal bars no more than four inches apart that screw into the side of a window frame. They are available in different sizes.
• For windows that can't be used for fire escape, install stops that keep a window from opening wider than 4 inches. These can be purchased at a hardware store for about $2. Some new windows come with stops.
• Plant grass or shrubbery around your home to soften the impact surface in case of a fall.
• Monitor window safety at your child care location and anywhere children visit.
