SILVER FIRS- Burglary

The Silver Firs Homeowners Association has sent out the following alert:

“On Friday, July 12th at 1:10pm a home in the 14400 block of 55th Avenue SE, Everett WA 98208 was burglarized. The homeowner was upstairs helping with children and heard the door open downstairs. Assuming it was their older child-the homeowner later came downstairs to discover the door was wide open.  The older child had been home all along, and the homeowner quickly discovered someone had entered her home and grabbed her wallet and iPhone.  After calling the police and using the 'find my iPhone app' the police found the female suspect at a park and ride in our area. The suspect turned out to be a former neighbor, from a few doors down-the female suspect was arrested and the wallet and phone were returned!”

Note: This incident shows that burglars, even if they take careful measures to determine if someone is home, are at risk of being discovered. Fortunately, the burglar stayed on the first floor and only grabbed what she could see. Otherwise, there could have been a nasty confrontation.

The homeowner acted smartly by calling 911 and using the capability of her smartphone to find it.

Remember keep your doors and windows locked, even if you are at home.
